Nature at Its Best Despite some stressful navigation on the ICW, we always enjoy the scenery. Below are some of the critters and landscape that made the trip worthwhile.
Dolphin and manatees swim around the pilings on a bridge crossing over the Indian River, FL. |
A beautiful mangrove island just north of the Indian River, FL. |
A cormorant drying its wings in Mosquito Lagoon, FL.

One of the many shrimp boats that we passed as we traveled through Georgia. |
A pelican enjoying the view from one of the ICW markers. |
The cemetery that inspired the book, Goodnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. We passed the cemetery close to low tide. Notice the extreme tidal range (the dark rocks along shore), which is around nine feet in the area near Savannah. |
A small alligator (about three foot) looking for handouts at our anchorage in Southport, NC. |
The beautiful remains of a dead live oak tree in the marshes off of Emerald Isle, NC. |
More to come in our next blog in the series.....
